ECB Confirms the rule for 100-Ball Cricket Competition & to launch in 2020.

The international sport cricket is been loved by fans across the globe, its followings and fans are increasing day by day in millions as from its initial start it is gaining a huge response from its fans and has become one of the most entertaining modem for its people. The game of cricket is being evolved from Test matches to T20 leagues maximizing its popularity and income as less overs bring more boundaries and wickets making the game even more entertaining to watch & time consuming. As of late T10 was also introduced to the game of cricket world and was hugely accepted by cricket fraternity and to its fans.

Presently, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Thursday formally reported the new terms for the 100-ball cricket competition, which is reported to begin in 2020.As per the statement mentioned in the official website of ECB, the conditions for playing the 100-ball cricket competition has been updated with the three rules or points along with its title 'The Hundred'.
In the newly updated rule the bowler is only allowed to ball 5 or 10 deliveries consecutively with a maximum of  20 per game.

We all know that in current Test matches,T20,ODI & even in T10 matches the bowler is allowed to change the bowling end after the each over. While in 100-ball format, the bowler is able to change the bowling end after each 10 balls.

"The strategy we have created will give the whole game clear priorities," said by Tom Harrison, chief executive of ECB(England & Wales Cricket Board) as stated in ecb.co.uk. The game has made a huge progress this year,through collaboration, constructive debate and a volume of detailed discussion. The outcomes for all of this combined work are vital for the growth and sustainability of cricket, at all levels in England and Wales, as statement quoted in ECB website.
The three updated outcomes for 100-ball cricket competition are:


  1. 100 balls to each team or side.
  2. Bowlers can change end after each 10 balls.
  3. A bowler can ball 5 to 10 consecutive deliveries with a maximum of 20 per game.

These new updated points for 100-ball competition is stated to begin the year 2020 with presenting less time watch for cricket fans around the globe. Also with men's tournament a women's tournament will also be started at the same time.
