History of Cricket in India

1st Indian Cricket Team

Before talking about this topic today Cricket had became a famous sports for the fans across the globe developing billions of dollars."Well you can say its a billion dollar company."Because of cricket many talented players for the respective sport had came into existence.We all know that this awesome entertaining game was invented by England & other than ruling India for almost 200 years they also brought cricket to India.


Now the Indian national cricket team which is also known as Team India or Men in Blue which is run by BCCI(Board of Control for Cricket in India) have made a huge success in this game of cricket since when Britishers left the country.They brought cricket in the land of India in the early 1700s and the first cricket match was played in 1721.The first cricket club was developed in Kolkata.Indian national team became the 6th team to be granted for Test cricket. Well obviously in the beginning of its career as International cricket team, Indian team was known as the weakest team amongst all. Indian national team has to wait for 20yrs for their 1st victory in Test Cricket.

CK Nayudu

CK Nayudu became the first Indian captain who led the Indian team in a series against England in the 1932.While some of the players in the early 1900s,some of Indian players joined the England cricket team.Some of these players were Ranjitsinhji and KS Duleepsinhji who were greatly appreciated by English people and their names was used to name the one of tournament today what we call as Ranji trophy and Duleep trophy.

Kumar Sri Ranjitsinhji Jadeja

The Indian team,however, got his strength in the 1970s with the help of great players such as Sunil Gavaskar,Kapil Dev,Gundappa Viswanath & many more.Salute to them they bought the Indian team to a stronger position even in harsh conditions.The rest is history as from then Indian team went on to fix their place in one of the strongest team in the world.
